Semiotics,Representation,Denotation and Connotations

Semiotic is the study of signs (study of images). Semiotic means to make meaning through a series of images.
Semiotic is the study of sign systems it allows media texts to be taken apart-deconstructed-to show meaning (as well as important aspects such as trust) are created. semiotics show that meaning can develops at the simplest level.
Signs act to signify meaning ,but they never work alone groups of signs combine to create a larger units of meaning and theese are called codes.
Representation is not the original thing, it is a representation of an original thing, Both are the corner stone of media.
Denotation is the fact that everything is said to either have a simple basic or literal meaning,it is what a sign denotes.Meaning is no more than an idea that both signs and codes can signify more than one meaning.
Connotation is when semiotics is used to explain and explore secondary meanings of signs and codes that things become more interesting, this suggests a level of meaning is called connotation i.e what the code connotes.
